The Ampere Group provides professional consulting services to our utility partners supporting substation, transmission, distribution, and telecommunication projects that are part of their large capital delivery portfolio.
This is a hybrid role based out of Massachusetts that offers flexibility, with the majority of your work being remote. Occasional travel to client sites and offices in Massachusetts may be required. You must reside within a 200-mile radius of Massachusetts.
Position Overview: Join our dynamic team as a Project Controls Specialist/Cost Analyst with expertise in project controls, financial reporting, and data analysis. Collaborating closely with Project Managers, you'll play a pivotal role in managing high-profile capital & expense project portfolios, ensuring precise financial oversight and adherence to project timelines.
Strategic Analysis:
•Provide insights and recommendations to Project Managers, Program Managers, and leadership based on project trend analysis.
•Prepare reports that shed light on forecast support, accruals, open commitments, financial deviations/variances.
Collaborative Reporting:
•Collaborate with stakeholders to design reports that empower informed business decisions by Project and Program Managers.
•Maintain accurate project documents and records in that support input into systems like SAP, Primavera P6, Unifier, ProjectWise, and Pro Core.
•Support project sanctioning and closure.
Cost Control & Forecasting:
•Monitor and analyze project finance trends, offering recommendations to Project Managers.
•Update cost plans and maintain accurate project forecasts.
Data Management & Visualization:
•Process data from various systems, transforming it into meaningful reports to track financial metrics.
•Analyze financial information, identifying significant variances and communicating them effectively.
•Manage project purchase orders for material, equipment, and services.
Software Expertise:
•Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (macros, pivot tables, data management).
•Leverage experience with tools like Primavera P6, SAP, Unifier, Tableau, Ariba, Pro Core, STORMS, and PowerBI (preferred).
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education & work experience.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in project administration, project controls, or project management, owning process life cycles from start to finish.
•Background in construction, energy, utilities, engineering, or related industries.
•Strong experience with financial reporting and using financial systems.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel with macros and pivot tables.
•Familiarity with SAP, Unifier, Tableau, Pro Core, and Ariba is a plus.
