Supports Engineering Projects in the development, analysis, and monitoring of financial reports, and performance indicators and other duties as assigned.
Develop, maintain, and analyze cost reports for projects assigned to Engineering Projects. Identify and evaluate risk and track performance to project budgets. Attend project meetings, safety meetings, and general staff meetings. Perform ad-hoc queries and reporting on project data for various stakeholders and customers. Will be responsible for maintaining department processes and guidelines and adhere to AI 37-001 and department desktop guides. Assist in updating monthly performance indicators for active projects. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management. Individual will model Professional to the Core behaviors and champion Evergy core competencies and principles in all interactions and activities.
Administer the preparation, documentation, review, and analysis of detailed monthly cost data including accruals and journal entries. Use standardized or customize reports for monitoring actual vs. budgeted costs and projected future expenditures to give project managers, department supervisors, managers, and executives upon which to make financial decisions. Challenge project teams on adherence to established budgets and accounting practices. Participate in the development of annual budgets and estimates with project managers. Assist with tracking changes to budgets. Review invoices for appropriate allocations and charges. Regularly participate in/ prepare information for project and site financial meetings, Plant Health Committee, and Asset Management Board. Track adjustments and maintain balance for Engineering Projects Reserve.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years of relevant experience in cost controls OR
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and 8 years of relevant experience in cost controls OR
- High school diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in cost control in lieu of degree
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of PowerPlan and PeopleSoft FSCM (Strongly Preferred)
- Working knowledge of SharePoint (Strongly Preferred)
- Analyze work to be performed, organize work into manageable pieces and develop project budgets and resource utilization plans.
- Clearly communicate intentions, assign tasks, follow-up with managers to ensure work is performed within correct budget.
- Analyze and solve problems and present alternatives and solutions when issues arise. Must be comfortable and confident presenting to senior management.
This position requires the ability to work in a moderately noisy environment (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- Knowledge of industrial plant, engineering, maintenance, and financial business processes desired.
- Knowledge of industrial PWR plant systems and components, system interrelationships, and regulatory requirements desired.
- Working knowledge of project management principles desired.
- This position requires good oral and written communication skills.
- This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal managerial supervision.
- This position requires the ability to handle multiple priorities and must possess good leadership qualities.
- This position requires a satisfactory work record, including good attendance.
