Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project & Control Engineer/Officer.

Reporting to the Senior, Project Controls Specialist, this position is responsible for implementing the project controls system within the Projects and Modifications and Project Services Organization. This role ensures timely scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and reporting using computerized systems such as Primavera P6, EcoSys, and other business unit databases.

Key Accountabilities

Coordinate and facilitate Front End Planning (FEP) activities, including value engineering, PDRI, scoping, and risk workshops.
Develop integrated project schedules, budgets, contingencies, and milestones, ensuring input and alignment from all stakeholders.
Prepare and update Risk Management Plans, maintain risk registers, and manage internal and external estimating as needed.
Monitor and control project schedules and costs, perform regular analysis and reporting, and recommend corrective actions for any deviations.
Enforce change control processes, document and approve baseline changes, and ensure accurate, up-to-date project documentation.
Support project closeout, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain comprehensive, auditable project records


Qualifications

4 years bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education.
6–8 years of experience in project controls, including planning, scheduling, risk management, estimating, and budgeting.
Experience supporting project management in Nuclear, Hydroelectric, or Thermal generating facilities, with familiarity in engineering and construction management concepts.
Proficiency in business and computer applications for managing project information, costs, and forecasts, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
PMP, EVM, and PMI-SP certifications are considered assets.
Experience with project scheduling tools, such as Primavera P6, is an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
