The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

Lead Programmer Developer | Pay Range: $109,500.00 - $142,250.00

Senior Programmer Developer| Pay Range: $95,200.00 - $123,700.00

Join our IT Applications Engineering Services team at Southwest Power Pool!

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is looking for a highly skilled Programmer Developer to support our Engineering team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to combine technical expertise with meaningful impact by developing custom web applications that streamline engineers’ daily workflows and improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. You will design and manage microservices within a Kubernetes cluster, as well as build tools for data collection, validation, and preparation to support transmission planning studies. This position offers the chance to work with modern technologies while contributing directly to the reliability of the power grid that serves millions of people. To be successful as the Programmer Developer, we're looking for:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field or equivalent experience

- Lead: Ten (10) years of applicable Information Technology Development/Support experience

- Senior: Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology development and support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

- Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Unix or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems

- Proficient in one or more modern programming languages

- Effective troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills

- Effective written and oral communication skills

- Effective working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices

- Effective working knowledge of secure coding practices

- Good customer service and organization skills

- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred Qualifications

- Two (2) or more years applicable utility industry experience

- Basic understanding of SPP’s core business model

Position Type, Location, and Expected Hours of Work:

- This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

Travel Requirement

This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%).
