What you'll do
The Program Manager, EV Operations will lead multiple EV related programs and projects in the Customer Metering team.
The role will be focused on ensuring operational reliability of BC Hydro's electric vehicle charging stations / network
infrastructure and minimize down-time across the province This includes evolving the BC Hydro EV fast charging network to
create a reliable and consistent driver/customer experience.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of program management or coordination of multiple projects,
transitioning projects to operations, management or procurement of vendors/contractors, driving continuous improvement,
developing new initiatives, utility asset deployment or maintenance, working in cross-functional teams, customer support
and escalations, external stakeholder relationship management, and champion of customer experience.
The EV cross functional team includes but is not limited to Customer Service Operations, Contact Centre, EV Capital
Projects Delivery/PCM, Strategic Planning, Legal Services, Properties, Conservation Energy Management, Indigenous
Relations, Key Accounts Management, Asset Management, Community Relations, Communications and Powertech Labs.
The successful candidate will:
•Oversees the performance and reliability of BC Hydro's fast chargers throughout the province.
•Champion customer experience and continuous improvement of BC Hydro EV fast charging stations / network
infrastructure.
•Actively coordinate between EV cross functional teams in order to foster internal teamwork and communication while also
ensuring customer needs are considered.
•Coordination of program portfolio reporting made up of multiple projects, continuous improvement initiatives and
operational considerations.
•Evolve the BC Hydro EV network product roadmap and interoperability in coordination with vendor partners (eg. BCH EV
mobile app, EV network roaming)
•Manage the deliverables of vendors and sub-contractors.
•Run regular and ad hoc operational and project update meetings to ensure regular communication amongst program
stakeholders.
•Support EV fast charging infrastructure team with stakeholder engagement, site selection, upgrades, and continuous
improvements.
•Support EV fast charging infrastructure team with coordination, design and deployment of customer experience aspects
and considerations (eg. signage, safety/accessibility, site host coordination, contact centre engagement and training,
transition to operations).
•Independently manage and deliver multiple small initiatives simultaneously.
•Engage with EV cross functional teams and stakeholders in the development and execution of initiatives.
•Provide support and expertise to EV cross functional teams to deploy their initiatives and transition to operations, high
reliability and customer experience.
•Stay current with EV industry trends including but not limited to public charging, home/workplace charging, passenger
EVs, EV fleets and incentives.
What you bring
•5-7 years of customer service experience and operations in utility environment or similar.
•2-5 years of experience in contract/vendor management, procurement and/or negotiations.
•Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical distribution and EV charging infrastructure are considered key assets.
•At least one year of direct experience in EVs, and EV chargers or EV related projects/ initiatives.
•Businesses skills should be complemented by demonstrable technical coordination and strong influencing skills.
•Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence people in other parts of the organization and external stakeholders.
•A skilled user of Microsoft Excel, Word, OneNote, PowerPoint and Visio (or other visualization applications).
•Thrives in a team environment with cross functional team members, able to work with people with diverse backgrounds
and skill sets.
•Is self-motivated and resourceful, capable of developing new processes and content based on business objectives and
few reference points.
•Requires excellent oral, written and presentation skills for communication with a wide variety of internal and external
stakeholders as listed above.
•Strong analytical skills including risk assessment to provide decision recommendations.
•University degree, diploma or equivalent experience.
