Job Title: Production Services Dispatcher
Reports To: Operations Manager / General Manager
Job Overview:
The Production Services Dispatcher at Nordic Energy is responsible for the efficient scheduling, dispatching, and coordination of pressure truck and IBC chemical transport operations across Alberta and British Columbia. This role requires a strong understanding of oilfield logistics, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, and the safe handling of chemicals and pressurized fluids. The Production Services Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of services to clients, while maintaining constant communication with drivers, supervisors, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch and Scheduling
•Job Coordination: Receive, schedule, and dispatch pressure truck and IBC chemical transport jobs based on customer requirements, availability of drivers, and fleet resources.
•Driver Assignment: Assign jobs to qualified operators based on location, license class, training, and equipment availability.
•Route Optimization: Plan efficient routes for pickups and deliveries, considering road conditions, traffic, and distance to minimize costs and delays.
•Shift Coverage: Manage day-to-day driver coverage, including adjustments for sick calls, delays, or emergencies.
•Client Liaison: Act as the primary contact for clients regarding job scheduling, service status updates, and changes to job scope.
•Driver Support: Maintain regular contact with drivers in the field, providing clear instructions, updates, and troubleshooting support as needed.
•Problem Solving: Proactively address service delays, route changes, weather impacts, or equipment issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Compliance, Documentation , and Safety Oversight
•Regulatory Awareness: Ensure dispatches comply with TDG, and Hours of Service regulations.
•Driver Documentation: Verify that drivers have current certifications, training, and valid permits for the transport of chemicals and hazardous goods.
•Pre-Trip Preparedness: Ensure drivers have appropriate documentation, PPE, and job-specific instructions prior to departure.
•Incident Support: Coordinate response to spills, incidents, or mechanical breakdowns in accordance with company procedures.
•Ticketing and Job Logs: Review and process completed field tickets, ensuring accuracy of time, volumes, and billing codes.
•Daily Logs: Maintain a daily dispatch log, including job status, operator assignments, and delays or issues encountered.
•Load Tracking: Monitor and track all dispatched loads from pickup to delivery, ensuring timely and complete job closure.
Team Coordination and Continuous Improvement
•Field Feedback: Collaborate with field supervisors and drivers to assess operational performance and gather improvement suggestions.
•Resource Planning: Work with fleet and maintenance teams to ensure vehicle availability and service intervals do not conflict with scheduling.
•Reporting: Provide routine updates to management regarding job status, efficiency, and service delays or challenges.
Skills & Qualifications
•Experience in oilfield dispatching, preferably with pressure trucks and chemical hauling in Northern Alberta.
•Strong working knowledge of TDG regulations, fluid hauling logistics.
•Proficient in dispatch or fleet management software, Microsoft Excel, and digital ticketing systems.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail.
•Knowledge of local road, client sites, etc
•Valid safety certifications such as First Aid and H2S Alive considered an asset.
