Manufacturing Quality Assurance Inspector Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a Quality Inspector with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). This position is available for both full-time and part-time candidates, and we are willing to train the right person. Candidates with experience in skilled trades or automotive manufacturing are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
•Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and other technical documentation.
•Inspect products and parts for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with specifications.
•Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for precise measurements.
•Apply knowledge of GD&T to assess the dimensional accuracy of parts.
•Document inspection results and provide feedback to production teams.
•Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
•Maintain inspection tools and equipment in proper working order.
•Perform detailed inspections of parts to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
•Set up and calibrate CMM equipment to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements.
•Document inspection results and prepare reports, including non-conformance reports if necessary.
•Assist in improving inspection processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment following safety standards and protocols.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing or a related field is a plus.
•Proven experience operating and programming CMM machines (e.g., Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo).
•Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
•Proficiency in using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and surface plates.
•Must have knowledge of PPAP , FAI and APQP process.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
•Strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration with other departments.
Skills
•Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
•Experience with GD&T is required.
•Experience operating a CMM machine.
•Previous experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment is preferred.
•Skilled trades background is a plus.
•Familiarity with quality control processes and standards, particularly AS9100 and ISO 9001.
•Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
•Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other related tools.
•Proficiency in PC-DMIS or similar measurement software for data analysis and reporting.
•Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Additional Information:

•Experience: Manufacturing with automotive experience is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
•Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and production processes.
•Regular standing, walking, and lifting of parts or materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
