Summary:
The Production Planning Assistant provides support to the Planning and Production teams. Responsibilities include assisting with daily and weekly order tracking, helping to manage inventory, checking order details for accuracy, and ensuring customer requirements are met. The role involves following the weekly production schedule, preparing basic reports, and providing general support to production staff to ensure orders are processed and completed on time. This entry-level position offers hands-on learning opportunities and works under the guidance of senior team members.
· Report directly to the Production Planning Supervisor and receive guidance from the Planning Manager.
· Assist the Production Planning Supervisor with basic tasks such as tracking and organizing work orders.
· Learn and use planning software tools under supervision to help maintain the production schedule.
· Support the creation and adjustment of work orders following the production schedule and changing demands, with assistance.
· Help observe production schedules and identify areas for improvement, while reporting issues to senior staff.
· Assist in compiling simple reports on work order progress, inventory levels, and material availability.
· Check the availability of materials for upcoming work orders to support smooth operations.
· Help monitor schedules, inventories, and raw materials under the guidance of the planning team.
· Follow up on production progress to support the timely completion of schedules.
· Collaborate with supervisors to ensure that daily workflows and schedules run smoothly.
· Provide support in submitting Purchase Requests for related departments, as needed.
· Assist in ensuring compliance with established plant procedures, safety guidelines, and work rules.
· Perform additional duties and support tasks as assigned.
· Skills: Basic data entry, willingness to learn, and attention to detail. Good communication skills are helpful but can be developed on the job.
· Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills are needed; familiarity with Microsoft Excel and email is a plus but not required. Willing to train on production planning software.
· Interpersonal Skills: Willingness to listen, learn, and work well with a team in a fast-paced environment.
· No prior experience necessary; any experience in manufacturing, logistics, or production planning is a plus but not required.
· Basic organizational skills and willingness to learn. Leadership skills can be developed over time.
· Able to work in a team and adapt to deadlines with guidance.
· Basic computer knowledge is helpful; familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets is a plus but not required.
· Willing to train on software like Microsoft Excel.
· Basic communication skills required; ability to improve over time.
· Openness to working in a culturally diverse team.
· Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, and understanding simple percentages, are sufficient.
· Willing to train on more advanced concepts.
Ability to follow instructions and ask questions to learn. Problem-solving skills will be developed through training.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance if needed.
