As product innovators, our goal is to create sustainable options for today’s consumer. Calcean harvests a biogenically renewable high-performance mineral called Oolitic Aragonite (calcium carbonate) from natural precipitates in the Bahamas. Calcean processes this mineral at its manufacturing operation in Savannah, GA.
The most important qualifications for a manufacturing operator at Calcean Savannah are a willingness to work safely and an ability to learn cross functional skills. New operators will become members of a team of about ten operators who collectively run the manufacturing plant during day and night shifts.
Successful teammates will become competent in most of the main elements of the operation listed below.
1. Mineral stockpile and yard management: Safely operating a CAT front-end loader upon certification.
2. Minerals processing: Safely operating semi-automated dryers, screeners, and mills from a control room and in the field. Conducting product quality testing.
3. Finished product packaging: Safely operating manual bagging stations, bulk bagging stations, and palletizing stations. Conducting product quality testing.
4. Finished product warehousing, trailer loading, and bulk load-out: Safely operating a forklift (upon certification) for warehouse management and trailer loading. Safely operating bulk loadout stations and a scale-house. Interacting with truck drivers.
Calcean needs an “all hands-on deck” attitude from teammates to fulfill customer quality and delivery expectations. All teammates are expected to learn cross-function skills, to teach each other, and to develop themselves and their team. Production operators work 12-hour shifts with rotating day/night schedules.
