Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Product Sustainability Engineer is to play a key role in supporting the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and driving continuous product improvements. This includes managing technical product documentation, making minor design revisions, and ensuring seamless collaboration with contract manufacturing partners. The role requires proactive problem-solving and close interaction with both engineering and manufacturing teams to enhance product manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and overall product performance.
Essential Duties
•Supports the New Product Introduction (NPI) process with collaborating with contract manufacturing partners on various product initiatives.
•Acts as the liaison between Engineering and contract manufacturing partners for issues, problems, and process improvements.
•Interacts with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction opportunities.
•Collaborates with contract manufacturing partners to improve the manufacturability of new and existing products.
•Collaborates with contract manufacturing partners to develop, implement, and update manufacturing test strategy and test equipment.
•Generates Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and coordinates the review and approval of required parties.
•Performs product documentation updates and revisions throughout the lifecycle of the product.
•Assists with the development and maintenance of product requirements, bills of material, assembly documentation, and test specifications and protocols.
•Identifies and qualifies alternate components due to obsolescence, availability, pricing, or risk mitigation.
•Coordinates and supports prototype builds.
•Utilizes electronic test equipment to perform product verification testing.
•Supports regulatory testing with certified labs such as UL, TUV, ETL, CSA, CE, FCC.
•Ensures a healthy project team culture and positive contribution to the greater DiversiTech culture
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements
Required
•Bachelor of Science in Engineering
•2 – 4 years of experience in electronic product development
•Strong knowledge of the product development process for electronic products
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
•Excellent personal skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
•Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment.
•Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail and ability to work without constant supervision
•Excellent project management skills as well as strong investigative skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
•Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to work on multiple projects and stay within scope, schedule, and quality specifications
•Exhibits a strong ability to identify and solve problems efficiently
•Demonstrates initiative and an energetic approach to resolve challenges
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with employees on all levels, as well as the ability to communicate needs and objectives clearly to project team and internal stakeholders
Preferred
•Experience with circuit design and PCB layout
•Experience with injected molded plastics design, custom engineered components, processors and microcontrollers, software development
•Knowledge of safety and regulatory certification testing such as FCC, UL, CSA, CE, etc.
•Knowledge of various CAD tools such as Altium and Solid Works
•Knowledge of electronics manufacturing process, surface mount, and thru-hole PCBA rework

Consistent interaction with PRO1 Engineering team, regular interfacing with all levels of corporate employees and contact with field management. May interface with external vendors as needed.

Work Environment
This position works in a distribution or manufacturing work setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.
