We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to manage our portfolio of tap off boxes. This role requires a blend of commercial acumen and semi-technical knowledge within the electrical industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our tap off box product line, from initial quotations to managing supplier relationships.
- Product Management & Strategy:
Develop and execute a product strategy for the tap off box line. This includes market analysis, competitive research, and identifying opportunities for product enhancement and growth.
- Commercial & Pricing:
Manage all aspects of pricing, including creating and maintaining pricing matrices, preparing quotations, and reviewing project-specific pricing to ensure profitability and competitiveness.
- Proven track record of commercial conversions of prospective to repeat customers with a portfolio exceeding $10M, annually.
- Submittals & Technical Support:
Oversee the creation and submission of all project-specific submittal packages. This requires a solid understanding of the technical specifications of our products and the ability to communicate these effectively to customers and engineers.
- Supplier & Vendor Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for our tap off box suppliers. This involves negotiating contracts, managing lead times, resolving supply chain issues, and ensuring product quality meets EAE standards.
- Sales & Customer Support:
Provide semi-technical support to the sales team and customers. This includes assisting with product selection, addressing technical queries, and participating in customer meetings to promote our products.
- Training & Development:
Conduct training sessions for the sales team and internal staff on new products, technical updates, and best practices for tap off box applications.
- Inventory & Forecasting:
Collaborate with the operations team to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and optimize stock to meet market needs without excessive overhead.
- Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, sales, or a similar role within the electrical industry. Experience with busway systems, switchgear, or related electrical distribution products is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge:
Must possess a strong semi-technical understanding of electrical components, especially as they relate to busway systems and tap off boxes. An ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and specifications is essential.
- Commercial Acumen:
Proven track record in managing product pricing, developing quotations, and negotiating with suppliers and customers.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, from engineers to sales teams.
- Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- ERP/MRP Systems:
Hands-on experience with SAP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is highly desirable.
- Industry Engagement:
Experience attending and participating in industry-specific events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Market Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the electrical distribution market and key industry players.
