THE CHALLENGE
Fueled by growth of the company, the Purchasing Manager serves as an administrative resource, focusing on support of vendor relations, purchasing, inventory management and strategic sourcing for the company. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and Accounting and helps thermal Plant Managers maintain their assets and works with various corporate departments and operations teams to efficiently maintain the company’s assets.
The Responsibilities Procurement Operations
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for thermal fleet operations, including issuance of purchase orders, invoice processing, and goods/services receipt.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting for audits, financial reporting, and compliance reviews.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that optimize value, improve efficiency, and reduce risk across the thermal fleet.
- Execute vendor optimization initiatives, including supplier consolidation, volume discounting, and strategic sourcing efforts.
- Lead escalated contract negotiations, pricing reviews, and supplier performance discussions.
- Partner with stakeholders across operations, engineering, finance, and legal to align procurement strategies with business needs.
- Work with vendor management for vendor selection, onboarding, rationalization, and ongoing relationship management.
- Ensure all vendor setups, renewals, and terminations comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics, driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, and service.
- Design, configure, and oversee procurement processes within enterprise systems (Maximo and Workday).
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in procurement activities.
- Develop and maintain procurement performance metrics and dashboards.
- Support annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting for procurement-related activities.
- Identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities to improve EBITDA across the thermal fleet.
- Conduct price escalation analyses and market benchmarking.
- Manage, train, coach, and develop Procurement team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Provide leadership on special projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred with 4-7 years of experience. Applicable years of experience may substitute for degree.
- Experience with accounting processes, purchasing, and supply chain.
- Understanding of maintenance management systems is preferred such as Maximo and Workday.
- Adept with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.
- Self-starter with ability to make decisions and take necessary actions without specific direction.
- Effective time management and organizational skill; keen multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently, and as part of a cross-functional team.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position functions in a smoke and vaping-free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computer, phone, and scanner/photocopier. Noise levels can be moderate to high when visiting job sites, and may contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.
