Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role Schedule:

Shift 5 days in /2 days off followed by 4 days in /3 days off

Position Overview

The Procurements & Contracts Supervisor is responsible for the Procurement team and overall Procurement at New Gold working with senior Management. This position is responsible for leading a team of buyers and leading procurement activities, procurement plans, KPI’s and procurement execution with both internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible to ensure business performance and operational efficiency while managing supply risk and controlling costs.

This position is responsible for supervisory functions of the buyer team engaged in the procurement of goods and supplies and contract negotiation, with vendors and suppliers, to ensure products and services are available to the Operation in a timely manner, while managing costs. Will also participate in the management of contractors involved in the Rainy River mine site. Responsible to manage the Purchasing operating budget. Ensure IBA business commitments are achieved through the purchasing and contracting activities. The Procurement Supervisor will ensure that all procurement and contracting activities are done ethically and transparently.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising procurement and contracts personnel to ensure smooth operations and fulfill user department requirements
Display Leadership and sound business judgement when analyzing client/project needs and foster an environment that encourages alternative and innovate solutions to business problems.
Oversee and manage all procurement activities within the team such as contracts, purchasing, material control, expediting and Logistics.
Ensures procurement practices are within Company and legal standards to ensure fairness, transparency and competitiveness which result in the lowest total cost while balancing risk and other factors
Deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, by being the contact point for the procurement team in resolving issues and growing appropriate client relationships.
Coordinate with finance department to ensure prompt payment of purchased goods or services.
Manage the purchasing and contracts management budget and measuring and reporting the effectiveness of the procurement department activities
Collaborate with internal departments to develop procurement forms, templates, workflows and processes that will help the team to succeed and improve the efficiency and performance of Procurement department.
Providing health and safety procedures, related to the activities for purchasing and contract management,
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities, and act as a role model for the procurement team
Delegate responsibilities and tasks to the procurement team and follow-up to ensure successful completion of assigned responsibilities
Create & maintain a positive team environment provide regular coaching and feedback as well as supporting and helping onboard new team members.
Ability to lead and direct meetings and calls with internal and external vendors, departments and deliver clear and concise information to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers
Lead & Participate in daily pre-shift safety meetings with the Supply Chain Team
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Task Procedures and ensure procurement team is trained on and fully aware of all responsibilities.
Ensure that all employees and respective work areas comply with New Gold’s health and safety policies as well as the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Support and uphold a value-based Safety Management System, focusing on continuous hazard identification, risk management, compliance monitoring, and employee engagement.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and mutual respect among employees and supervisors.
Collaborate with the Human Resources department to support employee engagement and well-being.
Develop employees to maximize their potential to align with organizational goals and Implement succession plans for key roles.
Assisting with other duties as required to ensure the success of the Supply Chain team


Qualifications

Post-Secondary degree or courses specific to Supply Chain Management
3 - 5 years’ experience leading in a Supervisor capacity within an industrial environment, preferably with a mining background,
Demonstrated history of strong analytical and communication skills
Strong, demonstrated leadership capabilities including the ability to lead with vision, set an example, stimulate intellectually, be innovative, excellent communicator, build teams.
Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the local community, indigenous groups, employees, colleagues, and service providers/contractors
Well versed with SAP (S4/Hanna or previous) and proficient in MS Office suite, knowledgeable in use of Ariba and business software
Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines,
Well-developed planning, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal, communication and organization skills,
Work in a team environment to meet deadlines,
Positive attitude and commitment to safety, act as a role model for the team
Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
Effective time management skills, works well under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks with varying priorities in a fast paced work environment
