Position Overview:
The Process Engineering Design Systems Lead reports to Sr. Manager, Engineering Design Technology (EDT) and serves as the corporate technical expert for Motiva's P&IDs, Digital Twin initiatives, and other 2D Design applications. The purpose of this position is to ensure that As-Built and project databases for Motiva's P&IDs are maintained and properly managed to ensure the safe, reliable operations of Motiva's facilities and provide a competitive advantage through efficient project design, improved operational performance, and advanced digital twin capabilities.
The Process Engineering Design Systems Lead provides leadership, advanced support, and establishes Motiva's long and short-term strategy for all matters related to 2D Engineering Design Software for P&IDs and site-wide Digital Twin implementation. They provide assurance and develop standards and documented guides to ensure proper and consistent use of these tools for projects, operations, and maintenance. They provide technical expertise and support on system design, software upgrades, and troubleshooting.
As the Digital Twin Champion for the site, this role will drive the vision, implementation, and adoption of digital twin technology to create virtual representations of physical assets, enabling improved decision-making, operational efficiency, and lifecycle management. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital twin capabilities with existing systems, establish data governance protocols, and demonstrate the business value of digital transformation initiatives.
They are also responsible for workflow process development and user training for EPC partners including HVECs, focusing on both 2D Engineering Design Software for P&ID utilization and digital twin integration to maximize the value of these engineering design systems.
Responsibilities: Engineering Design Systems Administration* Administration of Engineering Design applications – Smart P&ID, other 2D design applications, and digital twin platforms + Setup and configuration, installation, user access control, backup, troubleshooting, project data cleanup, database administration, report customization etc. + Ownership of the P&ID data management for projects, operations, and maintenance + Smart P&ID automation programming + Customization of reference data, synchronization activities, workshare collaboration and quality checks + Maintain and document reference data standards, attributes across the sites, maintain project deliverables and training materials + Coordinate with design team, project team, document management team and technical groups to provide operations and maintenance support + Support document management application in conjunction with Management of Change (MOC), revision management and data handover + Assist IT in planning and implementation of software upgrades and patchesDigital Twin Leadership* Serve as site champion for digital twin initiatives, establishing the vision, implementation strategy, and roadmap
Technical Leadership and Support* Function as the front-end technical interface with EPCs, third party vendors for software testing assignments and application support for both SmartPlant P&ID and digital twin technologies
Cross-Functional Collaboration* Lead cross-functional initiatives to maximize the value of engineering design systems and digital twin technology
Experience and Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:* Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Preferred Education and Experience:* Experience with digital twin concepts, implementation, or related technologies
