The Process Engineer – Projects (PEP) provides process engineering support for the Capital Projects organization at our Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex. The PEP works closely with multiple disciplines including Operations, Process Engineering, Process Safety Management, Project Engineering, Environmental, and Manufacturing and Optimization to develop project justification, scope, and deliverables. The PEP provides engineering contractor and quality assurance technical oversight throughout the project life cycle through execution.
- Work with Business Development Managers, Production Specialists, Project Engineers, discipline engineers and other project team members to help define objectives, deliverables, and project boundaries.
- Work with project team members and other stakeholders to ensure processes meet Motiva and industry standards.
- Assist with assessment of the technical, economic, and logistical feasibility of assigned projects.
- Provide front-end process engineering deliverables including feasibility reports, design basis documents, process simulations, hydraulic analyses, preliminary equipment designs, PFD and P&IDs, and process safety evaluations.
- Provide technical assurance during the project lifecycle by participating in project MOCs, HAZOPs, and SIL Analyses and providing oversight to engineering contractor deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience- Knowledge of steady state simulation packages such as SimSci/Hysys
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards
- Understanding of how to manage critical knowledge and information to stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience in a refinery or chemicals facility - 2+ years of project process engineer experience working with project stage gated process
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
