The Process Engineer at ProPetro Energy Solutions (PROPWR) is responsible for supporting optimization and innovation processes across equipment and operational systems. This role focuses on process design, systems integration, operational efficiency, and quality assurance. The Process Engineer supports the engineering team in the design, planning, and safe execution of process systems for PROPWR sites. This role is field-focused, with responsibilities centered on conducting site surveys, preparing engineering drawings and documentation, and supporting the setup of new sites. The Process Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance during project execution while working closely with operations and field teams.
- Conduct site surveys to assess conditions, gather technical data, and support new project planning
- Develop and update engineering documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and site layout drawings
- Support the design and planning of new sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements
- Assist in field commissioning and verification of new equipment and systems
- Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, and field services teams
- Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and hazard identification for field projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables align with safety, performance, and reliability goals
- Maintain accurate records of field observations and communicate findings to the Lead Process Engineer
- Meet project milestones, manage engineering deliverables, and ensure alignment with business goals
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation: Process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SOPs, troubleshooting guides, training manuals and commissioning protocols
- Analyze and optimize equipment performance and system integration at both design and operational levels
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment/process failures
- Drive process safety and quality compliance through risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, field services, and HSE teams
- Provide technical support to ongoing operations and field personnel, including remote SME support
- Ensure all engineering work complies with internal standards and external regulations
- Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline required
- 0–3 years of experience in process engineering or related field (internships/co-ops acceptable)
- Familiarity with process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs) and engineering tools such as AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of process safety fundamentals and regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, API preferred)
- Willingness to work in field environments and travel as needed within the Permian Basi
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven expertise in process development, design optimization, and operational troubleshooting
- Proficient in engineering tools such as Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- High sense of ownership, collaboration, and commitment to continuous improvement
- Willingness to travel within the Permian Basin and to Houston as needed
