Job Summary
Apply engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes and foundry operations, with a focus on green sand molding systems. Supports automation, process optimization, and equipment improvements to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost-efficiency in foundry operations.
Job Duties
•Develop and maintain a deep understanding of green sand foundry processes, including molding, core making, melting, pouring, and shakeout operations.
•Identify and implement automation and process improvements across foundry operations to reduce manual labor, increase efficiency, and improve product consistency.
•Stay current with industry advancements and foundry best practices, particularly in green sand systems and equipment technologies.
•Recommend and justify new equipment, tooling, and process changes to optimize quality, reduce cycle times, and minimize scrap or rework.
•Analyze process data and production metrics to identify root causes of defects or downtime; implement corrective actions.
•Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for molding machines, sand systems, and other foundry equipment.
•Prepare and present technical reports, process documentation, and improvement plans.
•Train production staff on best practices, equipment operation, and new procedures.
•Ensure documentation is complete and compliant with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
•Support and enforce 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Participate in cross-functional teams to drive quality and productivity improvements.
•Follow all company policies related to safety, environment, and quality.
•Perform other duties assigned to support foundry goals and objectives.
Experience and Education
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline (required).
•Comprehensive knowledge of concepts and principles within the field.
•Proven ability to perform complex tasks, typically following established processes.
•Strong leadership and team management capabilities with full authority for personnel decisions.
•Familiarity with departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and process improvement initiatives.
•MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred, along with commercial experience in a technical environment.
•Experience with the transmission or distribution electrical utility industry is preferred.
