Description Position Summary:
The Process Control Engineers will provide engineering services for all physical, chemical and biological processes throughout the treatment plant, collection system, outfall, and remote pump stations, and will assist the Director of Process Control Engineering and Regulatory Compliance by conducting studies and experiments involving all aspects of plant operation, permit compliance and the water quality monitoring program. Additional responsibilities will include developing and maintaining quality control for daily operational data, drafting and plotting graphs and charts, maintaining a solid transition from analytical and operational data to the process computer, and conducting operator-level research to improve plant performance. The Process Control Engineers will also be responsible for examining and improving operating policies for specific unit processes or operations within the plant, preparing and writing technical research reports and studies, instructing and monitoring operational personnel in order to establish and maintain sampling programs, performing routine analysis of off-site and on-site water and wastewater samples, and maintaining field sampling and monitoring equipment. Interfacing with engineering consultants on behalf of PVSC, reviewing their drawings and specifications, and acting as a liaison with the consultants during construction, will also be necessary.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have an understanding of the treatment process and its operation through reviewing design specifications, drawings, texts, daily logs, and speaking with Operators. Must be able to develop effective work methods to analyze, interpret and evaluate engineering problems, express findings in a quantitative fashion, and apply appropriate solutions. Must be able to apply basic engineering principles and techniques to work assignments, develop sound plans and recommendations, organize assigned technical engineering work, and prepare clear, concise and sound engineering reports containing findings and conclusions. Effective verbal and written communications skills are necessary as is the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
All applicants must meet the NJ First Act residency requirements and a valid NJ Driver’s License. Requirements in addition to those reference above;
Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater treatment systems or process design is required.
Physical Demands:
To perform the essential function of this position the employee must be able to: sit, stand, walk, stop, climb, kneel, lift up to 25 lbs., carry, reach, push, pull, keyboard, minor use of tools, manual dexterity, confined spaces, good vision, good hearing, speaking. Must not be prone to seasickness.
Working Conditions:
Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and may be required to work both indoors and outdoors. Year-round access by boat to area water bodies and use of sampling truck in various weather conditions.
The expected base pay range for this position is $108,334 to $149,216. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
