Essential Functions
The Lead Process and Finish Personnel is responsible for overseeing the end finishing process of pipe products in the manufacturing line. This role involves supervising and coordinating the end finishing operations, including pipe blasting, grinding, and any other required post-threading processes, ensuring that the finished product meets quality and customer specifications. The Lead Process and Finish Personnel will also be responsible for maintaining efficient workflow, ensuring safety compliance, and leading a team of operators to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities
End-Finish Operations:
Oversee the pipe end finishing process, including blasting, grinding, sanding, deburring, and any other procedures necessary for final product completion.
Ensure that all end finishes are completed according to customer specifications and internal quality standards.
Set up and operate specialized end finish equipment, ensuring that all machines are calibrated and function properly.
Monitor and adjust processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality results.
Leadership And Supervision
Lead and supervise a team of End-finish Operators, ensuring that production targets are met and safety standards are adhered to.
Provide guidance, training, and technical support to operators to enhance skills and improve efficiency.
Monitor operator performance, conduct regular reviews, and provide feedback on productivity and quality.
Ensure that the team maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Quality Control And Inspection
Perform routine inspections of the pipe ends after processing to verify that the finish meets customer specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, and gauges) to verify dimensions and ensure the correct pipe finish.
Identify any defects or deviations from specifications, and work with the team to correct issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintenance And Troubleshooting
Perform regular maintenance on end finish equipment to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and address minor equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance personnel for more complex issues.
Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
Process Improvement And Efficiency
Continuously monitor and assess finish processes to identify opportunities for improvement in quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and other departments to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
Suggest and implement process improvements, including new tools, technologies, or practices that enhance production.
Safety And Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to safety guidelines and company policies in all aspects of the end finishing process.
Ensure all team members use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by ensuring adherence to housekeeping standards and safety regulations.
Report any safety incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate personnel.
