Position Specific Description

We are seeking a visionary Technology Architect with a robust understanding of full application stack development and experience in emerging technologies in the AMI 2.0 space. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on edge computing, distributed intelligence, AMI networks, data management, hybrid infrastructure and cloud platforms, big data, and cybersecurity. Additionally, the candidate should possess the ability to understand and implement how AI will overlay in the AMI 2.0 strategy, experience in setting technical vision, direction, and execution.

Essential Skills:

Extensive experience implementing and leading full application stack solutions across cloud, edge, and on-premises environments, including software design, development, testing, and DevOps.
Proven expertise designing distributed systems leveraging edge computing and mesh network technologies, specifically in deploying and managing AMI network solutions.
Deep knowledge of AMI networks, including communications protocols, data collection systems, and meter firmware.
Comprehensive knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and big data technologies for large-scale data management supporting real-time analytics.
Strong capabilities in cybersecurity across IoT devices, networks, and cloud platforms.
Familiarity with AI technologies and their integration within AMI 2.0 strategies to enhance operations.
Ability to set a technical vision and execute technology roadmaps effectively.
Experience establishing technical governance models for emerging technology initiatives.
Strong experience in emerging technology trends and their application in the energy sector.
Exceptional skills in translating business requirements into technical solutions and architectural roadmaps.
Excellent communication and leadership skills demonstrated influential skills in complex organizational environments.

Position Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive technology architecture frameworks for AMI 2.0 platforms, including edge computing, distributed intelligence, and cloud integration components.
Design scalable data architectures supporting high-volume meter data processing, analytics, and integration with enterprise systems.
Establish technical standards for secure device communications, data encryption, and access controls across distributed AMI environments.
Create reference architectures for edge intelligence applications enabling real-time grid operations and analytics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AMI systems with customer-facing applications, grid management platforms, and enterprise data environments.
Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging technologies in distributed intelligence, edge computing, and AI/ML applications for AMI data.
Develop technical roadmaps aligning with business strategies while enabling innovation and technology evolution.
Implement architectural governance processes ensuring security, scalability, and reliability of AMI solutions.
Partner with cybersecurity teams to establish comprehensive security frameworks protecting AMI platforms, communications, and data.
Mentor technical teams on architectural best practices for distributed systems and edge computing applications.
Evaluate emerging technologies and provide strategic recommendations for AMI 2.0 evolution.
Actively participate in code reviews, debugging, and solution optimization.
Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze strategy and trends, aligning technical solutions with business objectives.
Communicate and manage technology goals with Product Owners and Product Managers.
Provide technical assistance during critical production issues and ensure prompt resolution.
Execute on critical tasks and projects as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master's preferred).
8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise architecture or solution architecture roles.
5+ years of experience with distributed systems architecture and large-scale data platforms.
Proven experience designing secure IoT ecosystems or utility technology platforms.
Demonstrated expertise in cloud-native architectures and hybrid infrastructure models.
Experience with modern software development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
Strong background in cybersecurity frameworks for critical infrastructure.
Experience with utility AMI systems, meter data management platforms, or grid modernization initiatives.
Knowledge of utility industry standards (e.g., NIST, IEC, IEEE) relevant to grid technologies.
Experience with containerization, orchestration, and microservices architectures.
Background in AI/ML application design and implementation.
Professional certifications in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), architecture frameworks, or cybersecurity.

Individuals facilitate and orchestrate the delivery of targeted business outcomes through technical decisions. Leaders in this job serve as top-level experts and visionaries in the development of roadmaps, strategy, and design for assigned technology areas.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Works with business partners to analyze strategy and trends to define the requirements, principles, and models that guide technology decisions
Communicates and enforces technology standards with business partners
Understands industry trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies
Drives digital innovation and develops roadmaps through new technologies and approaches to fulfill strategic business plans
Defines high-level migration plans to address gaps in current state
Coaches, mentors, and leads technical subject matters experts to enable and drive consistency across technology architectures
Designs and owns governance, assurance, and standards activities for enterprise technology architecture compliance
Oversees and facilitates the evaluation, risk assessment, selection, and design of hardware and software technology and product standards
Delivers technology architecture artifacts, possibly including reference architectures or concepts of operation
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
