Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Schedule: 7 days on, 7days off - 12 hour days
Position Reports To: Mill Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor
Role Summary
Under the general direction from the Mill Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor perform preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and perform machinery lubrication tasks for mill assets in the pursuit of excellence in asset and process reliability, maintenance management, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure compliance with all New Gold, provincial, and federal policies related to health, safety, and the environment are followed during the execution of all assigned tasks.
•Perform visual PM inspections on assets that are in operation to identify defects that could pose a risk to the reliable operation of said asset, or that could pose a risk to plant operation and gold production.
•Record lubrication system data in the field related to asset health and the condition of the lubricating systems, which includes but is not limited to operating pressures, operating flow rates, and operating temperatures.
•Acquiring oil samples to be used for oil analysis and the assessment of asset health.
•Acquire predictive maintenance (PdM) data to be utilized by the Reliability Technicians, which includes but is not limited to vibration readings, thermographic images, and temperature measurements acquired by infrared or contact devices.
•Document and provide detailed written description of all PM inspection findings, and create work notifications for corrective maintenance, when required, in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
•Perform general lubricant management tasks including, but not limited to transporting and staging of bulk lubricants, transfer of bulk lubricants to point of use, maintaining cleanliness of lubricant storage facilities and dispensing equipment, and disposal of waste lubricants and packaging.
•Perform machinery lubrication tasks that includes, but is not limited to greasing bearings and bushings, ensuring automatic grease lubrication systems have adequate lubricant in the reservoir to function.
•Checking and verifying the proper operation of automatic grease lubrication systems and perform minor maintenance activities on said systems.
•Deploying and utilizing spill containment tools and equipment to manage lubricant leaks until such time as corrective maintenance can be performed to eliminate the source of the leak.
•As required assist Mill Maintenance personnel with executing urgent repairs.
•Perform other duties as required and as directed by the Reliability Supervisor.
Qualifications
•Formal education in an industrial trade is desired, or a minimum of 5 years progressive on-the-job training experience. Red Seal trade certification would be an asset.
•Minimum 5 years working in an industrial work environment around heavy equipment and machinery.
•Certified lubrication technician designation would be an asset.
•Able to walk and stand for long periods of time, which includes climbing stairs and ladders.
•Ability to work short periods of time in crouched position, or to duck under or maneuver between fixed structures or machinery to perform some inspection and lubrication tasks.
•Able to carry and walk with up to 25 lbs. of tools and supplies while performing assigned duties, and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
•Able to work with minimal supervision while delivering superior results.
•Ability to operate small equipment such as fork lifts, telehandlers, man lifts, and other material handling equipment would be an asset. Willingness to be trained in the operation of said equipment is required.
•Effective written and oral communication skills.
•Previous experience with SAP ERP software or other ERP software including, but not limited to JD Edwards, Oracle/eAM, MIMS/Ellipse would be an asset.
•Previous experience performing basic work on a computer is preferred but not necessary, and willingness to learn to perform some tasks on a computer is required. Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Excel and/or Word would be an asset.
•Able to work with hand tools and small power tools.
•A demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement in assigned roles and responsibilities.
•Proven track record showing a commitment to health and safety and to environmental protection.
