Employees in this job are responsible for the forming of steel bar into raw forgings using a press forge and trim setter. The job is done by rotating through 3 "stations" for an entire shift.
Maneuvers work piece using 3' long tongs at waist level into the die to form it to shape. (65%)
Using tongs, pick up hot steel and place into first position.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place into second position.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place into third position.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place on conveyor belt.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place in trim bed (machine)
Lift bars of steel from knee level to shoulder level and place on bar feeder.
Use broom or shovel to lift metal scale from floor into waste bin.
Assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press according to specifications. (10%)
Must be able to effectively present information in one on one in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense, understanding, carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Must wear all required PPE and follow safety and work rules.
