Ameristeel is a family-owned steel supply, processing, and fabrication company based in Metro Detroit. We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our growing manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating press brake machines and a solid understanding of metal fabrication processes. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints accurately. The Press Brake Operator will play a key role in producing high-quality components while maintaining Ameristeel’s standards of safety, efficiency, and craftsmanship.
- Operate Trumpf press brakes to bend and shape metal sheets according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for accurate production.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure product quality.
- Perform quality inspections on finished products to meet customer and industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members across fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following Ameristeel’s strict safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance as needed.
- Assist in the setup and operation of other CNC machinery, including Trumpf CNC lasers, CNC milling machines, and CNC lathes.
- Use hand tools and tooling for various machining tasks, including welding, stamping press operations, and electrical discharge machining.
- Proven experience as a Press Brake Operator (experience with Trumpf press brakes strongly preferred).
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation is highly desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings effectively.
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments for quality inspection.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
- Experience with additional shop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, plasma cutting machines, and stamping presses is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
