Job Summary:
Charged with “starting a project off right” for the company and customer, the Preconstruction Designer is responsible for reviewing and creating project drawings and models for new construction, alterations or renovations using their specialty construction industry knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design spectator seating components that are functional, safe, code compliant, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Responsible for developing and communicating design and preconstruction solutions to aid sales agents, estimators, project designers, and project managers.
•Prepare proposals level drawings to include seating, foundation, and framing plans, along with sections and elevations for sales agents during the pursuit phase to assist in defining a project.
•Craft proposal drawings in compliance with building codes: NFPA, IBC, ICC, ANSI, ADA, ASTM, and OSHA.
•Design mass gathering structures (indoor and outside) for constructability and with the goal of using standardized parts, reducing design/manufactured part variation.
•Read through project plans, specifications and other customer documents for scope understanding.
•Evaluate and analyze technical drawings provided by professional services.
•Identify opportunities for improvement (value engineering) and make constructive suggestions for change.
•Develop comprehensive knowledge of Dant Clayton products and their applicability to project requirements.
•Attend and participate in project specific meetings to determine the most efficient project design while following scope of work.
•Operate in a cross-functional capacity, as workflow demands change, it may be necessary to support other departmental requirements as part of the project team.
•Works with external architects, engineers, and construction professionals as part of a Design Team to ensure all drawing standards are up to date and utilized in proposal level drawings to align with subsequent deliverables to customers.
•Work in tandem with sales agents on potential design solutions to meet customer needs while minimizing overall project risk and complexity on the balance of the organization
•Gain knowledge of internal drawing libraries to aid reps in finding a “starting point” for design options, continue to enhance those libraries with new design configurations
•Support and partner in Research & Development efforts to further elevate product offering to the market
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering. Preference toward Architectural CADD degreed program
•Certified in Computer Aided Drafting and Design
•Experience with REVIT is highly preferred.
•Exposure to the following codes: NFPA, IBC, ICC, ANSI, ADA and ASTM and OSHA.
•Familiar with structural design and various construction types
•A general understanding of construction practices and principles.
•Self-starter who is focused, articulate, well organized, and detail oriented.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong technical writing skills.
•Proficiency with AutoCad, Revit, and familiarity with other 3D software and Bluebeam Revu, and Office Products.

•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
