Starting pay for this position is $36.98 per hour

Vacancies exist for the position of Pre-Apprentice Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls (E&I) Technician in the Power Production Electrical Maintenance section of the Tucson Power Production area. Please see the attached job description, outline for technical skills test and additional bidding information offered. This Pre-Apprentice period will not be less than one year before they may be selected to be indentured as an Apprentice. Employees in an Apprenticeship program are not eligible to transfer out of the Apprenticeship in the final two (2) years of the program and until a minimum of two (2) years worked as a Journeyman are completed.

OUTLINE FOR TECHNICAL SKILLS TESTS

There will be a three-part testing procedure employed for this position. The first step is a timed Edison Electric Institute (EEI) aptitude test battery followed by a physical skills test and an oral interview. Upon successful completion of the first exam, you will then move into the physical skills stage and then the interview. Each step of the process must be passed in order to progress to the next step. We are giving you a study outline to prepare for both the aptitude written test and the core competency interview. By using this outline, and centralizing your study times in the areas listed below, you should be able to maximize your test results.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This job classification is an entry level position, which is designed to train the employee to perform all the basic duties and less skilled operations in connection with Apprentice Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls. Under direction of an Electrician or Instrumentation and Controls Journey level worker the employee assists, acquires knowledge and experience, and progressively learns the craft.
