A key Optimus client is looking for a Power Trader
with
NYISO experienceto join a fast-moving trading desk supporting a diverse portfolio of generation assets across the US. This role is perfect for a Trader who thrives on optimizing portfolios and creating value for utilities and their customers.
You will join a high-performing team that manages and optimizes generation and load portfolios across bilateral and RTO markets.
This role is not your typical “prop desk” job, the focus is on

- Optimize client portfolios
– manage load and generation assets, develop risk management strategies, and support congestion hedging.
- Trade across markets
– execute generation offers, load bids, bilateral transactions, transmission, congestion, and virtuals.
- Act as a market expert
– stay sharp on market rules, tariff changes, and industry developments to ensure compliance and capture opportunities.
- Drive innovation
– leverage tools like PowerOptix, Yes Energy, Genscape, and others to refine strategies and improve workflow.
- Collaborate & develop
– work closely with dispatch, analytics, and planning teams; train and mentor newer staff; contribute to a knowledge-sharing culture.
- Add value
– identify and execute opportunities that create value for both clients and internal positions.- 5+ years
in power trading
- Strong understanding of NYISO
- Skilled in
financial energy products
and congestion management.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- Strong
analytical and technical skills
(Excel, Python, or VBA preferred).
- Certifications such as
NERC, Series 3, or CFA
are a plus.
