Power Systems Studies Intern

RMS Energy Co., LLC is a nationwide provider of turn-key services to the power industry. From routine maintenance, inspection, and repairs to equipment design, engineering, and installation, RMS Energy offers a variety of solutions to fit the power related needs of our customers.

To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Power Systems Engineering Intern to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Power Systems Engineering Intern support transmission and distributing engineering, renewable energy projects, transmission planning projects, automation script development and work closely with experienced engineers and project managers. In this role, interns will have the opportunity to be familiar with power systems, various power engineering tools and develop and update scripts for power system analysis as needed under the directions of experienced engineers.

Working Conditions:

This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.

Physical Requirements:

The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
