Power System Operation Engineer

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

($81,166 – $101,458) – Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (preferred Electrical Engineering), or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

($93,342 - $116,678) - Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (preferred Electrical Engineering), and at least three years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

($107,342 - $134,178) - Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (preferred Electrical Engineering), and at least six years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provides engineering support including technical analysis, implementation, operation, and maintenance of SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and network applications (state estimator and real-time contingency analyzer), power system simulator, and other department technical services. Aids in maintaining the plans, processes, and procedures required for grid operation and ensures full compliance with applicable regulatory standards related to assigned area. Analyzes and assists in transmission and distribution system outage coordination. Leads small to medium projects with minimal guidance. Assists with training and provides engineering support to System Operators and System Operator Trainers. Acts as on-call engineer, as assigned, outside normal working hours. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
