This position is responsible for leading a team to manage both transmission and distribution generator interconnection requests for customers seeking to operate in parallel with and sell power to MPC. This position leads and supervises a team of three people to support the interconnection process. This position requires close coordination with the interconnection customer and multiple workgroups across Mississippi Power, Southern Company Services, Alabama Power, and Georgia Power. This position will provide the opportunity to work with and gain exposure to a variety of areas including but not limited to Transmission Planning, Distribution Planning, System Planning, Bulk Power Operations, Accounting, Finance and Treasury, Legal, Protection and Controls, Power Delivery Operations, Division Engineering, Marketing, Regulatory, and regulatory agencies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Mississippi Public Service Commission (MPSC) to ensure a seamless experience throughout the interconnection process. Responsibilities will also include the handling of communication with all impacted parties to ensure that a timely and accurate response is developed for each interconnection request.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Managing MPC’s Transmission and Distribution Interconnection procedures.
+ Educating and leading potential interconnection customers through the application, interconnection study, and interconnection agreement process to ensure all applicable processes and procedures are adhered to.
+ Managing executed generator interconnection agreements to ensure all contractual obligations are met according to the terms and conditions of each agreement.
+ Serving as project manager to coordinate across multiple departments to facilitate the construction of direct connected interconnection facilities, energization of the interconnection tie, initial synchronization, and witness testing.
