TDP Bakery is an established company that manufactures and self-distributes to thousands of locations nightly. This formerly small family business has expanded rapidly over the past five years but still maintains the benefits of a close-knit culture and entrepreneurial spirit. Our combined bakeries manufacture millions of fresh bakery items every week, and our distribution teams drive enough miles each day to circle the earth to ensure that our consumers can enjoy something truly fresh.
We are currently seeking a General Manager for our Arizona bakery who will continue to enhance the culture and integrity of our company throughout this exciting expansion journey.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Bakery General Manager
· Reports to “Chief Operations Officer”
· Partners with: Site Production Managers, Distribution Manager, Quality, Safety, Product Development Administration, and Remote Corporate Support (Quality/Safety/Engineering/HR).
Scope: The General Manager is responsible for leading the people, culture and productivity of a stand-alone commercial Bakery. The General Manager has the responsibility to ensure their team manufactures fresh baked goods to customer demand and consumer quality standards, while actively managing risk and achieving performance objectives. General Manager will be charged with effectively executing the company’s business plan and partnering very closely with the distribution leadership team in service of the region.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•The General Manager will have full oversight of the bakery, ensuring we are meeting the needs of our customers while adhering to our values and standards for quality and food safety with a team of ~90 people
•Facilitates growth via excellent service and care for existing customers/consumers and partners in new innovation and customer expansion.
•Builds stable and positive work environment and workforce that is conducive to food manufacturing and ongoing growth
•Directs, develops and executes the operating model, ensuring appropriate processes are in place for training, oversight and adherence to formula/process & quality specifications
•Conducts end-to-end operational assessment of current state vs. needs, prioritizes opportunities and ensures adequate plans to achieve targets
•Implement lean manufacturing tools, including standard work (leader and team member) visual management that tracks operations' key performance indicators, including quality, service, safety and cost, and problem-solving tools.
•Creates balanced scorecard of metrics to measure, analyze and monitor performance and establishes appropriate review/response from such measures
•Builds and maintains strong relationships across functional teams and leverages them to ensure a consistent, safe and wholesome product
•Partners with supporting leadership team to ensure common purpose and shared accountability in driving continuous improvement across the company
•Ensures best practices and policies related to GMPs, sanitation and environmental controls are strictly adhered to
•Develops and manages continuous improvement/cost savings pipeline to support overall competitiveness
•Actively oversees overall facility conditions to ensure safe & sanitary environment
•Oversee transition to SQF from AIB in calendar year.
Who we are looking for:
•Manufacturing background to support mix of highly automated and manual operations
•Experience managing multiple supply chain disciplines, e.g. quality and operations

•Ability to partner with across functions in driving growth and improving systems, while still maintaining the ability to roll up her/his sleeves to ‘act alone’ in a young and rapidly growing company
•Effective administrator who can move between daily operational support, projects and planning activities to ensure business needs are met in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
•Results-oriented mindset with grit and a bias for action
Specialized or Technical Knowledge:
•Continuous improvement practitioner experience
•FSMA/PCQI certifications preferred
•Audit experience with regulatory bodies (FDA/USDA), consumer audits and third party audits (SQF/AIB) preferred
•Minimum 7 years’ experience within a consumer products (CPG) environment and 2 years of site or large manufacturing department leadership experience required
•BS/BA in engineering, scientific discipline or similar applied field preferred
