Job Description:
The Planning Specialist is responsible for forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, coordinating activities across the entire supply chain, and ensuring timely product availability by strategically balancing supply and demand through data analysis and collaboration with various stakeholders, ultimately aiming to optimize the overall supply chain efficiency and minimize costs while meeting assembly or operational needs. The role requires a strong ability to analyze data, communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, and adapt to dynamic manufacturing environments.
Essential Duties:
•Assist in creating detailed production schedules to align with demand forecasts and capacity constraints.
•Track and report on inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
•Collect and analyze production data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, cycle times, and downtime.
•Monitor and adjust schedules in real-time to address production delays, equipment breakdowns, or material shortages.
•Communicate schedule changes to all relevant stakeholders.
•Collaborate with inventory control teams to ensure adequate supply of components and materials for scheduled production.
•Develop and maintain forecasting models to predict material needs and communicate forecasts to vendors proactively.
•Collaborate with sourcing and purchasing teams to build strong supplier relationships and negotiate better terms based on forecasted needs.
•Performs all duties as assigned.
Education:
Required:
Preferred:
•Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
Experience:
Required:
•1 Year of experience in production planning, supply chain, or a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
•2–4 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or a manufacturing environment.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
•Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
•Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel knowledge.
•Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
