Requirements
The Pipeline Technician will be responsible for the oversight, maintenance and correct operation of transmission and gathering pipeline systems. Coordinates, installs, troubleshoots, tests, maintains, and repairs pipeline equipment which may include low and medium voltage electrical equipment, PLCs, flow computers, transmitters, communication equipment, motors, valves, pumps, and filtration systems. Performs periodic inspections and routine maintenance on the pipeline system.
Under minimal supervision, the Pipeline Technician will be responsible for:
•Daily operations, maintenance, reporting, and surveillance of DOT regulated transmission and gathering pipelines
•Oversight of contractor activity performing covered tasks within facilities and right of ways
•Prepare thorough job plans, isolation plans, and energy control plans for complex maintenance and construction operations performed during pipeline and plant turnarounds
•Provide direction and stewardship of contractors involved in the construction & maintenance of DOT pipelines
•Provide support for pipeline integrity management and corrosion control
•Assist in writing and revalidating pipeline operating procedures
•Damage prevention guidance and respond to “One-Call” notifications, mark pipelines, participate in job-walks, etc. as needed
•Support public awareness program and communicate with emergency responders
•Assist with the creation and implementation of emergency response drills
•Read, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain gas & liquid measurement equipment
•Diagnosis and repair of control systems (PLC, relay logic and control logic)
•High level of technical knowledge in facilities data control, metering (volumetric and mass measurement) equipment
•Strong understanding of DOT, NEC, OSHA compliance regulations and API / ASTM Standards
•High level of technical knowledge in low and medium voltage, automation, communications, instrumentation control equipment
•Interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and diagrams for pipelines and pipeline operating equipment.
•Operation of both portable and stationary gas analyzing instrumentation
•Ability to interpret regulations, determine impact on pipeline/terminal operations and assist with implementation of compliance
•Actively coordinates the implementation and commissioning of new or modified facilities. Works with Engineering to develop written procedures for pipelines meeting company, state, and federal regulatory requirement.
•Initiate and follow through on the MOC or “Management of Change” process by completing forms, seeking concurrence, cooperating with the PSM/DOT Coordinator, Engineer, and Plant/Operations Team Leaders as needed to safely execute changes in DOT Pipelines and Facilities
•Use computers to operate and navigate SCADA, PI, PGAS and FLOWCAL systems
•Thorough knowledge and capable of navigating SAP
•Provide training and mentoring to Pipeline Technicians, contractor employees and take on leadership responsibilities that are delegated by supervisor
•Strong understanding of communication including fiber optic, radio and satellite
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED ; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred

•DOT Pipeline Operator Qualifications to fit above
