The Pipelayer will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. Concrete forming/finishing knowledge is a plus and the ability to operate light equipment is valued.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Locate existing underground utilities by hand digging (potholing)
•Install underground waterlines, sanitary sewer lines and storm sewer lines.
•Backfill waterlines, sanitary sewer lines and storm drain lines utilizing vibratory plates, tampers, (jumping jacks) and remote-controlled trench compactors.
•Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
•Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
•Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
•Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
•Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, cuts or bores holes prior to project.
•Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements.
•Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
•Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
•Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
•Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Safety:
•Promote, execute, and adhere to SSP safety program.
•OSHA 10-hour safety training (preferred) but can be obtained upon hire.

•Must be able to pass background check to work on the military installations.
Education and Experience:
•2 years prior experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings.
•Physically able to twist, scoop, bend, kneel, ascend ladders, descend ladders, and walk on uneven ground. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
•Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
•Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs.
•Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.
