Primary Responsibilities-
•Layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of both, carbon and stainless steel piping as related to industrial processing systems- Performs mathematical calculations pertaining to the manipulation of angles such as rolling offsets, cutback of fittings, and takeout between welds and other fits
•Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods
Typical Duties
•Basic understanding of rigging to safely move piping in and around project area
•Preps material for welding by utilizing application appropriate cutting implements
•Pipefitters must be able to follow blue prints (iso) to construct and install related piping and operation systems
•As required, assists fabrication/inventory warehouse with inspection of material and equipment received and maintenance of stored equipment
•Ability to motivate, coach, evaluate and provide guidance to all craft workers exposed to the project
•Participate in on-going training and career development
•Maintain safe work environment by establishing and enforcing SONS safety policies and procedures; ensure compliance with federal, state and local jurisdictions
Requirements
•Experience fitting Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel
•Proficient in blueprint reading
•Able to follow detailed work instructions, verbal or written, to exclude
•Minimum experience operating oxy/acy cutting, hand plasma cutting and iron working.
•Ability to pass written exam using Pipefitters bluebook & Isometirc drawing
•Experience commensurable to qualify as a journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter, with experience commonly obtained after five (5) years of actual field work in the trade, which may have included apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Pipefitters, Pipefitter Welders, Plumbers and Millwrights
•Communicate clearly verbally, in handwriting, and electronically
•Demonstrates strong knowledge of industrial/commercial mechanical construction manner of working
•Strong organizational and planning skills
