GENERAL DEFINITION:
This position provides in-depth desktop support to the County of Lehigh and is expected to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex PC and network problems over the phone, in person and utilizing remote assistance utilities. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining the Help Desk software in regards to their work assignments, tracking time, attending various departmental meetings and providing assistance to the reporting supervisor as needed.TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)
•Provides tier one and two trouble-call support.
•Installation and maintenance of PCs including PC adds, moves or changes.
•PC Desktop Support as needed (hardware / software).
•Printers, faxes and other hardware devices (scanners, biometric devices, receipt printers, etc.), software support and maintenance as necessary.
•Establishes network connectivity and PC hardware / software configuration.
•Supports third-party software applications utilized by the County.
•Provides remote location support.
•Set up LCD projectors, laptops, and screens for presentations and meetings.
•Keeps individual incident tracking system accurate and up-to-date.
•Schedules work to minimize interruptions to clients.
•Attends departmental, PC and Network team meetings to provide updates and suggestions for enhancements.
•Assists business experts in needs analysis, data gathering and preparation of service requests.
•Researches equipment and services for employee business usage (PCs, Printers, Applications, etc.).
•Contacts vendors to request support for third-party devices as needed.
•Maintains up-to-date knowledge on new hardware and software products (MS Vista and Microsoft Office).
•Complies with County and IT policies and procedures.
•Performs other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Expert knowledge of the following platforms: Windows XP and 2000 operating systems, Microsoft Office products.
•Knowledge of deploying computers, imaging software and requirements (Windows Deployment Services, Business Desktop Deployment, Ghost, DeployCenter or Altiris) preferred.
•Knowledge of basic network administration and functionality.
•Possess excellent customer service, oral communications skills and analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work independently and to prioritize work assignments based on ever changing business needs.
•Ability to respond rapidly, accurately and courteously to inquiries.
•Ability to troubleshoot PC problems and find solutions.
•Ability to work in a team environment where cross-training, collaboration and mutual assistance are fundamental.
•Basic knowledge of how to install and upgrade software.
•Knowledge of PCs and PC software in a PC network.
•Knowledge of the basic components of a PC and on a network.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
•An Associates degree or trade school certification in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience with three to four years experience in a PC Technician environment.
•MCSE certified or working toward MCSE certification preferred.
•MCP in XP or Vista required within in 90 days of hire.
•A+ Certification required.
•Or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above.

Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.
