Located in Calgary, AB and reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is a resourceful and trustworthy professional who can hit the ground running for our US entity. The successful candidate loves everything numbers and can work quickly and accurately. The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator can also look beyond the numbers and understand our employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist and run US payroll operations to ensure accuracy and provide backup as required to Canada
•Administer and oversee US benefit programs, ensuring accurate enrollment and management for employees
•Collaborate with various internal teams as needed to provide various payroll reports, complete end of year requirements, and participate in audits as required
•Support payroll using Dayforce, responding to queries, providing guidance, and escalating issues when appropriate
•Complete payroll reconciliations by verifying data accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with regulations
•Support the onboarding process for new hires and provide training on internal payroll and benefit processes
•Oversee changes in the employee lifecycle, that could be, but not limited to, leaves, transfers, employee change, terminations, etc
•Understand and be familiar with payroll compliance and standards for the US
•Become a subject matter expert for the HRIS Dayforce
•Collaborate with the HR team to ensure we are learning, growing, high performing and consistently delivering results
•Ensure compliance with all applicable workplace standards, laws and regulations in the US
•Promotes HR best practices, evaluates innovative solutions while balancing business needs and requirements
•Be a driver, facilitator & champion of all things culture
•Contribute to the development and maintenance of HR processes, workflows, and documentation as well as overseeing accurate records management
•Work collaboratively with members of the HR team, providing coverage for other roles and assisting in various projects as needed
•Maintain a positive and professional image and always remain diplomatic and tactful, with an understanding of confidentiality in dealing with a variety of issues and stakeholders
Qualifications
•Minimum post-secondary diploma in Human Resources or post-secondary degree in a related field; CPHR is an asset
•Minimum 3 years of direct payroll experience; ideally with US payrolls, along with salary and hourly paid employees
•Experience with running and administering US benefit programs
•Passion and talent for payroll and benefits and able to excel in relationships, and day to day support
•Knowledge of current legislation and as well as current HR trends and best practices
•Experience in a high growth environment and understand the evolution of HR as a company grows
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel suite and HRIS systems (Dayforce)
•Strong ethics, integrity and professionalism especially when dealing with highly sensitive information and situations
•Highly organized with ability to handle multiple priorities at once
•Ability to build strong, trusting relationships at all levels of the organization
•Emotional intelligence with active listening skills
•Trustworthy and honest - able to balance relationships in an organization
