JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Associate I is responsible for accurate and timely completion of payroll related functions including, but not limited to, bi-weekly payroll processing, auditing, maintenance, customer service, and support with certain special projects. This position will primarily focus on assisting with bi-weekly payroll processing but may be asked to help with other payroll tasks such as verifying timekeeping information, processing wage garnishments, addressing employee inquiries and issues, etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Assist with processing biweekly payroll and completing final reporting for the payroll
•Maintain payroll information by helping with the collection, calculation, and entering of payroll data
•Provide payroll information for employees by answering questions and requests in a professional, courteous, and timely manner
•Provide accurate and timely administration of garnishments, working directly with third-party vendors and auditing information to ensure accuracy
•Partner with more experienced Payroll Associates to resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
•Review various reports prior to payroll processing to ensure payroll accuracy
•Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
•Support the organization by helping handle management and employee requests with a strong focus on the customer experience
•Follow company guidelines, policies, and procedures
•Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location
•Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
•High school diploma or GED required
•Some payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or HR experience preferred
•Payroll software system experience preferred, specifically Workday
•Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Good interpersonal and customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with customers
•Ability to communicate with others one-on-one, fielding questions
•Ability to multi-task with a professional, self-motivated attitude
•Good verbal, written, and comprehension communication skills
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
•Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
•Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
•Willingness to work nights, overtime, and weekends as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently
•Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking
•Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
•Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
•Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
