This position will be filled in New Orleans, LA
Provide support to multiple attorneys and interface with internal clients including:
- Assist with the closing of M&A, real estate and other transactions including preparing ancillary legal documents in all aspects of transactional law.
- Manage electronic document data room for uploading, organizing, and storing due diligence materials for review and collaboration with all parties of the transaction.
- Assist attorneys with the preparation of contracts, licenses and other legal documents and facilitate communication with internal clients in connection with preparation of legal documents.
- Coordinating collection and delivery of signature pages from officers and senior management as well as the delivery of such to applicable parties.
- Working on post-closing matters such as preparing and organizing closing documents and binders and CDs for distribution to all parties and retention of documents in accordance with Entergy’s record retention policy.
- Assist with pole attachment, joint use and telecommunications issues.
- Assessing and preparing contracts, lease agreements, rights of way and closing documents.
- Analyzing title documents, surveys and legal descriptions of property.
- Development and maintenance of standard form real estate and right-of-way templates with alternative language.
- Training associated with real estate and right-of-way matters.
- Working with vendors to conduct searches for property and easement ownership, UCC financing statements; federal and state tax liens; furniture, fixtures and judgment liens; bankruptcy filings; and federal, state and local litigation filings.
- Proofread and edit documents.
- Perform legal research on Westlaw or other reference sources and conduct other factual and legal research.
- Maintain calendar of deadlines for transactions.Paralegal degree/certificate and/or bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent.
Paralegal I: 3 - 5 years of paralegal work experience.
Paralegal II: 5+ years of paralegal work experience.
2+ years of experience at a law firm is a plus
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office: SharePoint, OneDrive, Adobe, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Westlaw
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner
- Able to handle frequent direct contact with clients, vendors and government agencies
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines/pressure on a wide variety of matters
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task and work productively as a member of multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated research, writing and editing skills as well as oral presentation skills
- Experience in management of complex data systems
- Ability to work with others at all levels
- Maintain confidentiality of departmental issues
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Assignments may include overtime and/or weekend hours
- Perform work outside of these duties, as needed, for storm, restoration or other emergency events
