Summary/Objective:
The Paint Shop Manager directs the work of painters and assists with managing the painting operations and managing on- and off-site painting work orders in accordance with department procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•+ Ensures work areas are kept clean, enforces safety policies and assists other Cohen personnel when required.
+ Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
+ Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions, and report any deficiency promptly to management team.
+ Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
+ Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and/or efficiency.
+ Direct, coordinate, and monitor the activities of employees engaged in the paint department.
+ Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
+ Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
+ Maintain operations data, such as cycle time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
+ Ensure inventory levels are adequate to meet production demands.
+ Supervise painters, which includes creating work schedules, assigning work orders and monitoring work quality.
+ Document repair operations and time tracking in accordance with company procedures.
+ Request parts and supplies; perform quotes or estimates of cost of repairs as necessary.
+ Comply with and enforce safety policies.
+ Perform field and shop maintenance on paint equipment according to work pending reports and assist with leading small crews on isolated jobs or satellite locations.
+ Properly maintain all TDS equipment to include service truck and trailer readiness, safety equipment, and tools.
+ Immediately report any safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•+ Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Knowledge of painting technologies, metal integrity.
+ Ability to instruct and train direct reports.
+ Ability to multitask in managing direct reports, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Knowledge of prep surfaces, environmental rules and ability to read a Material Safety Data Sheet.
+ Knowledge of shop equipment i.e. sprays guns, pumps, air compressors, paint cleaning supplies.
+ Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook.
Education and Experience:
•+ High school diploma or its equivalent
Physical Requirements:
•+ Prolonged periods of standing and painting.
+ Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
+ Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
+ Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
+ Must be able to distinguish among colors.
