Overview
MPH Mesquite Power, LLC is seeking an Outside Operator/Production Tech II (PT II) to work at the natural gas power plant (Plant) located in Paris, Texas. This position assists in the safe and efficient operation of the Plant and the supporting equipment and systems. The PT II carries out all routine water chemistry analysis, inspects and monitors operating components and reports plant status. The intent is that this individual will be trained and will complete the certification process to become a Control Room Operator within one year.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Understands and follows all safe work practices
•Understands and operates Plant in compliance with all applicable laws and permits
•Follows the directions of the Production Leader and/or Production Tech I
•From outside the Control Room, operates the Plant in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner to meet production schedules
•Follow directions to affect changes in Plant conditions and chemistry
•Operates the Plant to technical specifications
•Responds to all normal and emergency conditions of Plant operations
•From outside the Control Room, performs Start-Ups and Shut-Downs of all Plant equipment including the Combustion Turbine/Generators, HRSGs, and Steam Turbine/Generators
•Monitors the security of the Plant
•Monitors Plant equipment to identify potential problems and takes necessary action to prevent failures
•Hangs and clears Safe to Work Permits, Lockout Tagout, and other safety permits
•Conduct routine rounds, collect samples, and communicate/document accordingly
•Understands and follows Plant procedures
•Supports a clean work environment
•Perform Outage / Maintenance tasks as necessary or assigned
•Complete other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 2 years in powerplant or similar facility; Combined Cycle preferred
•High School Degree or equivalent
•Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
•Working on feet for 12-hour periods
•Position is on day/night shift rotation
•Required stair and ladder climbing
•Routinely lifting 50 pounds
•Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot work gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.)
•Work with hazardous materials may be required
•Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions
•“On call" status will periodically be required
