The Offshore Operations Technician - I&E/ Operator is crucial in ensuring our offshore assets operate in a safe, consistent manner while protecting the environment. With a focus on product quality assurance, process optimization, and environmental compliance, this role troubleshoots instrumentation equipment as needed amongst other duties. You'll be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, working alongside a dedicated team & Control Center. Responsibilities may include actuator/valve maintenance & inspections, preventive and break/fix maintenance, calibration, end device management, pipeline pigging activities, DOT compliance tasks, and supporting routine offshore projects like painting, expansions, and maintenance turnaround work as needed, coordinating contractors, and acting as the PIC on the fixed leg facilities.
Responsibilities/ Expectations:
•Performs various tasks to safely maintain offshore platforms, facilities and associated equipment; maintain operation/technical standards and/or governmental requirements
•Solves problems, operates, and maintains offshore equipment and facilities, mechanical and electrical systems
•Performs DOT tasks and adheres to 192 and 195 DOT regulations
•Verifies and calibrates gas and liquid hydrocarbon devices and equipment
•Responsible for data analysis and collaboration with others to find solutions to technical or operational problems
•Maintains general knowledge of sites, location, equipment, permits and compliance
•Performs general maintenance and inspections of valves and related operators; supports mechanical instrumentation and control activities associated with platform operations, field gathering and pipeline systems
•Communicate effectively with the facility and teammates regarding status of facility maintenance, production, and operations
•Expected to be capable of flying offshore multiple times a week to complete PPM & maintenance work orders on platform.
•Expected to collaborate with the Offshore Maintenance Coordinator to plan out & order materials for future work orders.
•Shows the willingness & ability to execute affective troubleshooting to solve both I&E and mechanical problems with the resources provided.
Education/Years of Experience:
•Required: High School Diploma/ GED
•Preferred: Associates or 2-year technical degree and minimum (3) years’ experience of progressive experience working in the oil and gas industry, pipeline, energy, chemical industry or offshore operations
Physical & Environment Work Requirements:
•Willing to travel by boat or helicopter to Offshore Platforms, and acquire a HUET “Helicopter Underwater Egress Training” and US Coast Guard Approved Water Survival course completion certificate. Training required to be completed within first 30 days of hiring.
•Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
•Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs. and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs. as needed
•Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
•Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:
•Expected to work 4 days, 10hr shifts
•Available to work/ backfill offshore shifts on 14 on/14 off schedule as needed
•Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekends & holiday as needed
Other Requirements:
•Employee is required to live within 1 hour response time to Bay City office.
•Preferred: Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of offshore pipeline equipment and measuring or gathering of natural gas and oil pipeline products
•Preferred: Journeyman or electrical license
•Preferred: Experience performing operational tasks, routine inspections, maintenance and calibration of equipment related to quality and quantity determination
•Preferred: Experience performing operations and general maintenance in support of launching/receiving of oil/gas pigs, chemical injection operations, and pipeline operations
•Preferred: Experience planning and conducting complex work requiring independent evaluation demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to safely perform tasks and make decisions with minimum supervision
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills and proficient knowledge of maintenance management programs
•Possesses or is able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
