Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Operations Manager to lead our welding operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage and develop a team while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This position requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to oversee day-to-day operations, improve paint processes, and ensure alignment with company objectives. The Operations Manager will be responsible for fostering a positive work environment and ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and on time.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES


Supervision & Team Leadership:

Lead and manage the paint team, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to company policies and safety standards. Provide coaching, training, and development to enhance employee skill sets and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimizing costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times
Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity


Production Oversight:

Drive operational efficiency by designing, implementing, and optimizing workflows and procedures.
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality products.
Responsible for plant production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities
Coordinate and supervise daily welding operations, ensuring that production targets and quality standards are met while maintaining efficiency.
Quality Control: Monitor all paint procedures, inspection protocols, and material usage to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Address any discrepancies or quality issues promptly.
Operational Efficiency: Analyze workflows, troubleshoot production issues, and implement solutions to reduce downtime and enhance overall productivity.
Maintenance & Equipment Management: Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of paint equipment, ensuring all machinery is functioning properly and safely.
Reporting & Communication: Maintain accurate records of daily production activities, shift reports, and compliance reports. Facilitate smooth communication between the paint team, supervisors, and upper management to ensure operational efficiency.


Education & Experience

A 2–4-year degree in a related field (such as Paint certification, Manufacturing Technology, Operational Leadership, or a similar discipline) or equivalent professional experience.
At least 5 years of experience in paint processes, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.


Critical Thinking & Problem Solving:

Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by appropriate data analysis
Oversee production schedules, materials, and resource allocation to meet company objectives.
Manage day-to-day operations, overseeing the operations team and department.
Monitor performance metrics, prepare detailed reports, and identify areas for improvement.
Strong ability to analyze complex situations, identify issues, and implement effective solutions in real-time.
Handle budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation to meet strategic goals.


Leadership & Employee Development:

Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability
Manage, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
Monitor employee and team performance, offering coaching, training, and feedback for improvement.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align operational strategies with business goals.
Implement quality assurance measures for products/services and monitor production KPIs.
Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware
Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity
Demonstrated experience in leading, managing, and developing a diverse team of painters and paint line employees.
Ability to motivate and coach employees to enhance their skills and foster a productive and positive work environment.


Communication & Collaboration:

Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a daily basis
Update the production plan daily
Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers regarding throughput of stock to ensure production targets are met
Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Manufacturing activities
Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
Ability to collaborate across teams to achieve organizational goals and ensure smooth operations.


Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

In-depth understanding of industry safety regulations and standards, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Enforce strict safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections. Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, with a focus on mitigating risks associated with painting and other related tasks.
Proven experience in operations management or a related leadership role.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to handle complex processes.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
Excellent communication and leadership skills for managing teams and liaising with stakeholders.
Proficiency in operations software and tools, including ERP systems and project management platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, or a related field.
Experience managing budgets, KPIs, and performance improvement initiatives.
A track record of achieving measurable results in fast-paced environments.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions (including heat, humidity, and inclement weather), and elevated noise levels.
