We are a high-quality pre-finish shop specializing in the supply and finishing of doors, millwork, and siding. We’re growing and seeking a hands-on, experienced Shop Manager to lead our production team, drive efficiency, and build a strong, collaborative culture.
Position Summary
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop floor, managing personnel, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed on time and to specification. This role is central to the smooth functioning of our business and directly impacts profitability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead and manage all shop employees, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight
•Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules
•Oversee workflow and task assignment to ensure efficient production and project completion
•Maintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across departments
•Monitor quality control at each stage of production and sign off on final product readiness
•Order materials and manage inventory in coordination with vendor partners
•Coordinate basic maintenance and troubleshooting of shop equipment (training provided)
•Foster a positive, accountable, team-oriented culture
•Track shop performance and identify areas for process improvement
•Communicate clearly with sales, office staff, and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and continuity
Qualifications
•3+ years of experience in a shop or production management role (coatings / finish industry preferred but not required )
•Proven leadership and team-building skills
•Strong organizational and problem-solving ability
•Working knowledge of production scheduling, quality control, and task tracking
•Willingness to learn equipment operations and maintenance procedures
•Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, digital scheduling tools)
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred But Not Required
•Experience in wood finishing, millwork, or door/siding production
•Experience working with BuilderTrend for project management
•Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
