An Operations Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic, as part of the Concentrates team, this role supports day-to-day operations and long-term process improvement initiatives. The position involves hands-on fieldwork, technical analysis, and collaboration across departments to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable phosphate processing. Full time Co-Op/Internship. Typically, 36-40 hours a week on site.
Day to day work assignments assigned by the supervisor and could include:
- Assist in monitoring and optimizing phosphoric acid production processes.
- Support troubleshooting efforts to identify root causes of operational issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency and reliability.
- Evaluate and implement strategies to reduce process chemical usage.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through sustainable chemical practices.
- Conduct assessments of alternative chemicals and process modifications to improve environmental performance.
- Prepare and present technical findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), lab personnel, and contractors
- Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment
- Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies
- Sophomore level by May 2026 or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.
- For Louisiana ONLY: TWIC Card or ability to get a TWIC card.
- 2.75 GPA or higher
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
- Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
- Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Experience working in a team environment is a must.
- Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Effective verbal communication skills is a plus.
- Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
