Brief Description
The O&M Technician is responsible for operating the client's power plant facility, while utilizing advanced maintenance skills. Selected candidate will be placed in either a single skill position (pending training completion for multi-skill) or directly into a multi-skilled position based upon prior experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Conduct all work activities in a professional, environmentally conscious, and safe manner.
• Assure operational efficiency, unit reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain and execute tactical processes in a team-oriented, multi-discipline environment.
• Maintain control of all LOTO processes during normal operations, including signing authorization to work/clear, controlling key management, and ensuring proper lock-on/off procedures are followed.
•Monitor plant operations and perform periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement.
•Troubleshooting and correcting electrical maintenance problems, including switchgear, motors, breakers and plant wiring.
•Troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, tuning, and replacing I&C equipment and components.
•Troubleshooting and correcting mechanical problems which include combustion turbines, pumps, compressors, valves and various rotating equipment.
•Operation of a simple cycle power plant. Will be required to qualify as control room operator.
Requirements
•High school diploma or GED equivalent.
•3 - 5 years related experience working in a power plant environment.
•Specific experience with Siemens/Westinghouse 501f combustion turbines preferred.
•Understanding of Emerson Ovation control systems preferred.
•Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
•Demonstrate planning and organizational skills.
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
•Ability to handle constantly changing and emerging work priorities and schedules. Ability to work effectively with other team members.
•Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with various personality types desired.
•Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and other computer-based productivity tools.
•Demonstrate good decision-making abilities, long-term developmental capabilities, and networking skills.
Summary
• This role requires on-site presence and may involve working in varying environmental conditions.
• Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
• Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
• Requires occasional travel outside service area.
• Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
• Required to work around rotating and energized equipment.
• Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
