Rival Well Services is seeking experienced and safety-conscious individuals to join our growing team in the oil and gas industry. We are currently hiring Rig Supervisors, Rig Operators, Floor Hands, Derrick Hands, and Crew Safety Captains to support 24/7 rig operations across California. These positions play vital roles in daily well servicing operations, ensuring that safety protocols are upheld and that each crew operates efficiently.
Candidates must be able to commit to a rotational schedule of 12-hour day and night shifts, working 10 days on and 5 days off, and be comfortable working in remote and physically demanding environments.
Open Positions & Key Duties
Rig Supervisors
Duties:
•Lead and coordinate crew activities during assigned hitch
•Ensure full compliance with company safety policies and client-specific procedures
•Conduct daily safety briefings and hazard assessments
•Communicate with client representatives and manage jobsite logistics
•Maintain documentation including tour sheets, JSA forms, and rig reports
•Identify equipment needs and operational risks, resolving issues in real time
Experience
•Prior supervisory experience in oilfield or rig operations (required)
•Strong leadership and communication skills
•Familiarity with client interaction, scheduling, and documentation
•Ability to manage high-paced rig environments under minimal supervision
•WELL CONTROL - IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations, Workover Completions, Supervisor
Rig Operators
Duties:
•Operate rig equipment including drawworks, brakes, and pumps
•Monitor rig controls for proper weight, torque, and fluid pressure
•Support rig-up/rig-down operations and routine rig inspections
•Assist with minor mechanical troubleshooting and reporting equipment concerns
•Ensure safe handling of tubulars and downhole tools
Experience:
•Prior rig operator experience is required
•Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems
•Ability to follow procedures and adapt to field conditions
•Lead or assist in loading/unloading equipment and site setup
•Commitment to crew safety and jobsite efficiency
•WELL CONTROL - IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations, Workover Completions, Supervisor
Floor Hands
Duties:
•Handle pipe, tubulars, and tools on the rig floor
•Coordinate with Rig Operators and guide Derrick Hands during tripping operations
•Conduct equipment inspections and assist with rig-up/rig-down
•Monitor mud systems and maintain worksite cleanliness
•Lead or assist in loading/unloading equipment and site setup
Experience:
•Experience in oilfield or well servicing preferred
•Physically able to lift heavy loads and work long shifts
•Knowledge of rig safety practices and equipment handling
•Team-focused attitude with willingness to lead field tasks
Derrick Hands
Duties:
•Perform elevated work including handling pipe, tripping in/out, pipe racking and derrick inspections
•Maintain and monitor mud systems, fluid levels, and shakers
•Comply with all fall protection protocols during work at height
•Assist with tank transfers, fluid mixing, and pit maintenance
•Support Floor Hands and Operators as needed
Experience:
•Previous experience in derrick or similar field work required
•Comfort with heights and use of fall protection gear
•Understanding of fluid systems, mud mixing, and derrick safety
•Mechanically inclined and reliable under pressure
Crew Safety Captains
Duties:
•Act as on-site safety lead during shifts, ensuring team compliance with HSE protocols
•Conduct daily JSA's, safety observations, PPE checks, and tailgate meetings
•Document near-misses, field inspections, and behavioral safety findings
•Coordinate with HSE management and Rig Supervisors to escalate concerns
•Promote a proactive safety culture and intervene on unsafe acts
Experience:
•Oil & gas experience or leadership in safety enforcement is preferred
•Familiarity with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and industry safety standards
•Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
•Ability to lead by example and maintain crew accountability
