Job Description:
As a Rotating Equipment Specialist at Madsen Mechanical Services, you will lead the rotating equipment repair work in our Alberta operation. You will play a vital role in the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of industrial components and machines. Your work will involve precision measurement, use of machining tools, creative problem-solving, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Rotating Equipment Expertise:
•Demonstrate extensive experience with rotating equipment, including operation, inspection, maintenance, and service. Your background should encompass a strong understanding of industry standards, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices for ensuring reliability and performance in critical machinery.
Precision Measurement:
•Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as inside micrometers, outside micrometers, depth micrometers, vernier calipers, dials, gauges, and so on to ensure accurate setup, machining, and assembly of components.
Machining and Fabrication:
•Hands-on manual machining experience to fabricate and repair parts, ensuring proper functionality and reliability. You will have significant experience in the inspection, disassembly, assembly and repair of various types of rotating equipment especially steam turbines, compressors, gearboxes, valves, and pumps.
Industrial Tools:
•Candidates are expected to bring a comprehensive hand tool kit equipped with basic tools necessary for the role. Additionally, demonstrate competency in the safe and effective use of industrial hand tools, powered hand tools, and pneumatic hand tools.
Blueprint Interpretation:
•Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and sketches for executing setup, machining, and fabrication tasks. Proficiency in creating sketches or using applications like Mastercam to produce or refine drawings is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:
Performing work in the shop and occasionally in the field; including setting up and operating machine tools to manufacture precision parts and instruments. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances, as well as inspecting and measuring finished products to ensure they meet specifications. Routine maintenance on machines and equipment, troubleshooting machining issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards are essential tasks. Documenting production processes, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing industrial components, and participating in equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning processes are also key aspects of the role. Utilizing precision measurement tools to ensure accurate machining and assembly of components is crucial, alongside collaboration with experienced machinists and millwrights to enhance skills and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Completed a recognized millwright or machinist apprenticeship program & hold a Red Seal Certification in the Industrial Millwright and/or Machinist trade.
•Experience with Manual Machines, proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting manual machining equipment.
•Advanced understanding of machining and industrial equipment maintenance principles.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with an understanding of Rotating Equipment, mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
•Experience welding and cutting is an asset
•Computer literacy, including the use of the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is essential
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
•Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
•Willingness for occasional travel and work in the field.
•Valid Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $35-$47 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday (40 hrs / week), occasional weekends, and overtime a possibility.
Work Location: Shop (Edmonton, Alberta) & Occasional Field Support (Mostly Alberta or Western Canada)
