About The Role

As a part of the Occupational Health Services team, you are responsible for assisting with occupational hygiene field work at our client’s site in Labrador City with a goal of minimizing or eliminating adverse employee exposures. Working directly with the operations and maintenance teams, you will have a meaningful impact on the health and safety of employees through in-field investigations, training, and continuous improvement projects.
This is a short-term contract, with possibility of extension.
Job responsibilities include:
•Oversee the work assignments of HSE technicians and consultants on a daily basis
•Confer with Occupational Health and Safety representatives to find solutions for industrial hygiene issues.
•Complete or oversee a variety of investigative and consultative professional assignments to prevent occupational diseases and protect and improve overall employee health.
•Conduct audits using the occupational hygiene risk register to ensure compliance with HSEQ standards.
•Employ methods to eliminate or reduce exposure to occupational hazards through engineering intervention, administrative controls, and/or PPE.
•Complete risk assessments and understand associated methodology.
•Manage SDS Database, chemical inventory, new product introduction, reproductive and carcinogenic product elimination, product usage and storage, PPE requirements, and worker education.
•Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and communicate hygiene issues.
•Work with other client hygiene professionals to determine best practices when developing action plans.
•Assist the operations and maintenance teams with problem solving related to hygiene issues.
•Continuously meet with supervisors, Superintendents, employees, and unions to discuss testing results and to help to find solutions for real or potential hygiene issues.
•Other related activities as required.
About You
•Occupational Health and Safety certificate or equivalent.
•3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in a related role.
•Detailed understanding of provincial, federal, and client occupational hygiene regulations and requirements.
•Air sampling and noise monitoring experience and certifications are a definite asset.
•Unwavering commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with an above-average level of computer literacy.
•Fluent in English with fluency in French being a definite asset.
Please note that you will be required to work in an industrial environment. This may include working at heights, dirty/dusty and noisy environments, and confined spaces. All personal protective equipment and site-specific training will be provided. A negative pre-employment drug & alcohol test, along with an acceptable driving record are important parts of our safety program and are requirements for employment.
