Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Engineer/USQ Analyst opportunityfor the US Department of Energy’s Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) located outside of Las Vegas, NV.
Work Location: Remote with business travel to NNSS
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q.
The Nuclear Safety Engineer will have expertise to include:
- Determining the appropriate Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) type, such as USQ Determination, USQ Screen, or USQ Categorical Exclusion, to be utilized while performing the USQ Process as required per nuclear facility. This identification is essential for effectively supporting the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS) facilities and activities, including but not limited to the Device Assembly Facility (DAF), Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experimentation (PULSE), Radioactive Waste Management Complex (RWMC), Joint Actinide Shock Physics Experimental Research (JASPER), and Onsite Transportation Safety Document (OTSD).
- Preparing the appropriate USQ Determination, USQ Screen, or USQ Categorical Exclusion, to be utilized while performing the USQ Process as required per nuclear facility. This is essential for effectively supporting NNSS facilities and activities, including but not limited to the DAF, PULSE, RWMC, JASPER, and OTSD.
- Reviewing completed USQ Determination, USQ Screen, or USQ Categorical Exclusion, utilized while performing the USQ Process as required per nuclear facility. This identification is essential for effectively supporting NNSS facilities and activities, including but not limited to the DAF, PULSE, RWMC, JASPER, and OTSD.
- Mentoring MSTS employees obtaining a USQ Qualification, including but not limited to USQ Preparer, USQ Reviewer, and USQ Approver. This is essential for effectively supporting NNSS facilities and activities, including but not limited to the DAF, PULSE, RWMC, JASPER, and OTSD.
- Reviewing practice USQ Determination, USQ Screen, or USQ Categorical Exclusion provided by MSTS employees during USQ Training. This is essential for effectively supporting NNSS facilities and activities, including but not limited to the DAF, PULSE, RWMC, JASPER, and OTSD.- Bachelor’s Degree and 10 to 20+ years of experience.
