Network Engineer (remote)

LocationCalifornia, CA
Job TypeFull-time
Salary$82,400-$112,200

About This Job

This full-time remote opportunity involves supporting MRP power plant assets located across strategic regions, including California, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, with a preference for candidates based in the Southwestern United States. Maintaining the seamless operation and high reliability of the networking infrastructure connecting these sites is vital to ensuring continuous power generation and optimal facility performance.

Opportunity Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for proactively monitoring the performance and availability of the enterprise and power plant network infrastructure. This includes the installation, administration, support, planning, documentation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems to ensure stable, reliable, efficient, and secure operations.

This role involves providing remote support along with onsite assistance that requires travel to a widely distributed fleet of power generation facilities across multiple regions, focusing primarily on maintaining seamless connectivity and reliable network infrastructure for these essential sites.

Your scope of responsibility as Network Engineer includes the following primary functions:

Supervise the company’s network systems to ensure stability and efficiency across all platforms.
Maintain up-to-date administrative documentation, including drawings, topologies, and equipment lists.
Oversee LANs and WANs connected to diverse systems, operating platforms, and network architectures.
Install and configure network hardware and systems to support seamless communication and connectivity.
Monitor network performance and quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues as they arise.
Proactively assess network elements and alerts to detect potential problems affecting service quality.
Manage complex network environments and conduct troubleshooting to resolve performance-related issues.
Respond to assigned support cases, perform diagnostics, and ensure timely and complete resolution.
Maintain accurate records and logs of all network-related incidents, issues, and support actions.
Perform data entry and generate standard reports required for ongoing network administration.
Identify and report suspected security breaches or vulnerabilities to the designated internal team.
Support additional projects and complete other assigned tasks as needed to ensure network integrity.

NAES Safe

Safety is a core value at NAES, and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to remain mentally alert and work safely at all times. Employees must also adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property. Additionally, they are required to follow all NAES safety rules and procedures. Adherence to these safety responsibilities is one of the key factors in the evaluation of each employee’s performance.

Working Relationships

The Network Engineer reports to the Operations Director and collaborates with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to support and execute network infrastructure initiatives.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a home office environment, involving extensive computer use, sitting for prolonged periods, and frequent virtual communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. A reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace are essential for effective performance.

Travel to power generation facilities will be required. During these site visits, tasks could involve standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and wearing personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Work may also take place outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold. Smoking restrictions apply in and around all facilities.

Fitness for Duty

All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

Regular workdays are Monday through Friday during standard day shift hours. Given the remote support nature of this role, some flexibility in schedule may be required, including extended hours, varied shifts, or weekend and holiday work, to respond to operational needs or emergencies at power plant facilities.

Up to 20% to 30% regular travel will be required to support power plant assets and to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.

Compensation

This position offers an annual base salary ranging from $82,400 to $112,200 and includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
